Joey Silvera Biography
Joey Silvera has been a leading performer and director in the adult entertainment industry for more than 30 years. Born in upstate New York, Joey began performing in 8mm film loop porn while living in San Francisco. An unknown actor, he lucked into an Alex DeRenzy feature, Fantasy Girls (1974), which he credits as his big break. In January of 1977, Joey moved back to New York, where he began doing live burlesque acts and sex shows in Times Square, as well as other adult movies. He gained fame by costarring with porn's leading men of the era such as Jamie Gillis and John Leslie. Although Joey was often cast as the wacky sidekick or comic relief, his screen appeal grew, and over time he became known as a "name" star. Through the 1980s, he performed in hundreds of videos (some say he starred in more than a thousand tapes), cementing a popular reputation as one of the most recognized, well-liked and dependable studs in the industry. By 1990, Joey admits, "I hated my job," and he was ready to switch to the other side of the camera. In the early '90s, Joey directed his first videos for Devil's Films including the critically acclaimed Kink (1995), and in 1995 he joined the expanding roster of directors at Evil Angel, producing a wealth of outstanding straight series such as Fashion Sluts, Please!, Service Animals, New Girls, Strap Attack and Hellcats, as well as bringing she-male sex into the mainstream of porn with his groundbreaking Rogue Adventures and Big Ass She-Male Road Trip series.
